Yesterday we discussed classic clothes as a Christmas gift idea since they are clothes that can be worn for years to come. Today we will explore the characteristics of classic clothes so you can spot them easily while gift shopping this holiday season.
Classic fabrics are made from the natural fibers: wool, silk, cotton and linen. Classic neutral colors include black, white and gray, brown, ivory, tan, taupe and camel, as well as navy, burgundy, forest green and khaki green. Red is a rousing classic color for sportswear.
Fabric patterns come in classics, too. They are small-scaled as opposed to bold and oversize. Shirts, ties and dresses come in traditional stripes, polka-dots, foulards and paisley prints. Other classic patterns include tweeds, glen plaids, Scotch plaids, houndstooth checks, Tattersall checks and herringbones as well as diamond-shaped argyle patterns.
Now that you are familiar with the characteristics of classic clothes, what class pieces do you have in your wardrobe?
