Summertime means that bathing suits, shorts and clingy T-shirts make us much more conscious of the shape we’ve got – and the shape we’d like to have. This year, as you bare your body think again. The image of the ideal female form is changing; many of us are still criticizing ourselves for qualities we should be praising. The secret is knowing how to look at yourself – it may be time to start loving the body you’ve got – which is a real challenge when shopping for bathing suits. Take an objective look at yourself, then follow these 4 fitting tips when shopping the sales this summer.
1. Go Up a Size – Try one size larger. When trying on bathing suits, if the suit is too tight, the edges cut into your body creating bulges where you’d rather no one look. When a bathing suit fits a little looser, the skin is squeezed less and creates a smoother fit.
2. Bust size – Full-busted women need some extra support. Try under-wire tops or a suit designed for long torsos as your use will take up some of the extra fabric. If you are smaller busted, try a halter neckline or a high boat neck style.
3. Waist size – If you’re wider than you want to be in the waist, look for diagonal stripes or a surplice fold to flatter your figure.
4. Hip size and shape – The higher the cut, generally the longer your legs appear. The longer your legs appear, the leaner they look! To minimize sabblebag thighs, go for a contemporary skirt style bathing suit.
Your body image influences everything you do – the way you think, the way you feel, the way you act and the way others react to you. There truly are ways to dress every body type to look beautiful.
